This year’s edition of HILLS OF ROCK exceeded all expectations, providing three days full of spectacular performances by Bulgarian and world stars, incredible energy and moments that will remain in history. Nearly 60,000 fans visited HILLS OF ROCK 2024 over the three days, a record attendance for the festival, which cemented its place as the leading destination for rock and metal fans, both here and increasingly in Europe. Over 50 Bulgarian and international bands gathered in Plovdiv, united by one simple but extremely important goal – to show that Bulgaria has a place for the current rock and metal scene.

On the dynamic first day, the festival came alive with nothing but the sweeping energy of KoЯn and the energizing performances of Me And My Devil , Loathe, Skindred and Spiritbox on the main stage, as well as a number of quality acts on the Dark and Construction stages.Local favorites such as King Rat, No More Many More, ALI, Fyeld, Nocktern and Kerana and the Cosmonauts, Death Row and The Fourtones were also there during the day.

The Second Day promised to become legendary and that is exactly what happened. With a nomination for a Grammy and a BRIT Award, with over 5 million albums sold globally, an army of fans, sold-out tours all over the world, the multi-platinum Bring Me The Horizon came to Bulgaria for the first time at the invitation of the Fest Team, just when they are at the peak of their fame . Setting the stage on fire with their performance on the second night of the festival, midway through their set, what 20,000 people had been waiting with baited breath and had been discussing for months happened – the fabulous world-renowned singers of The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices to sing “Ergen Deda” and turn Parasite Eve into an eternal festival anthem. As the frontman himself, Olly Sykes, said “Bulgarians, tonight is for you!”. Chanting “Bulgarians-heroes!” and tears in the eyes of many – this night in Plovdiv will remain in the rock history not only of Bulgaria. We can’t help but mention the great sets of Frail Body, Ghostkid, Barroness, Imminence. The Na Tamno and Stroeža stages were no slouch, bringing together favorite bands like O.H., Expectations, Last Hope, Coolden, Sevi, Kontrol and Kokosha Glava, who hadn’t played live in years and fans were looking forward to it.

The final day three of HILLS OF ROCK arrived with a bang as only Vikings can. . The favorites of the Bulgarian audience, Amon Amarth, came out with a full arsenal of fire, effects, huge stage wars, countless stories from Scandinavian mythology to create the fairy tale atmosphere characteristic of their performances. Amon Amarth have twelve albums and thousands of concerts behind them, have headlined some of the biggest music festivals in the world and have a huge fan base. Themed rowing “like the Vikings” was not lacking in the audience either. The loud rockers Massive Wagons, industrial band Combichrist, Bulgaria’s favorites PAIN took the stage before them – with the band’s lead singer, Peter Tägtgren, declaring Bulgaria his favorite place to perform, as the crowd here really adored him and wildly chanted “Pesho “On foot!”. Energetic hardcore furies Suicidal Tendencies brought 50 fans on stage at the end of their set to sing and dance along with them. Despite the mosh pits and wild dancing, there was no dust in front of the HILLS OF ROCK main stage this year, thanks to the first-ever special cover in front of it.

On the last day, on the stages of Na Tamno and Stroeža we saw Rybka, Woomb, Sleeping Places, Panican Whyasker, Obraten Efekt, Slovenian sensation Joker Out and Orange, who hadn’t played live in 20 years.

HILLS OF ROCK 2024 has raised the bar very high, claiming a position as a leading festival in the country, with innovations and improvements to both the infrastructure – the organizers have taken care of the convenience of the fans, opening two entrances, installing the special flooring, so and about the festival content. By selecting bands that have made thousands sing and smile and offering constant information and videos behind the scenes as well, Fest Team’s commitment is to continue to provide the best of the international and Bulgarian music scene.
